Ikat Poncho II
Made with vintage textile from Nigeria, West Africa. This is an ikat strip cloth, meaning the pattern is achieved by tie-dying the threads before weaving. It's then woven in small strips that are joined together to make a small sarong like cloth that is just enough for one piece of clothing, this one. Imperfections, distress patterns, small holes or stains are common features of this beautiful and storied fabric.
Pictured is poncho styled by twisting to the side. *Not the same poncho, just for example.
