Let’s be real: sizing is tricky—not just with ethical brands, but everywhere. You can be a medium in one shop and a large or small in another. Even the big, mainstream brands can’t seem to agree. It’s confusing, frustrating, and can make shopping feel more like a guessing game than a joy. For conscious consumers trying to buy less and buy better, it’s even harder—because every choice feels like it really matters.
At Mira Blackman, we get it. And we’re in this with you. We source a portion of our pieces from small-scale manufacturers and USA-made organic basics. But we also make many garments in-house—cut, sewn, and hand-dyed in our Oakland backyard studio. That means our collection is a mix of silhouettes, textiles, and fits, which makes traditional sizing even less straightforward. Our goal is never to make you conform to a number. Instead, we try to design pieces that offer flexibility—looser fits, generous cuts, styles that adapt to your shape, not the other way around.
Size inclusivity is a conversation all its own—and an important one. The styles we make in-house are currently available in sizes XS–3X. Some of our pieces are sourced from other small manufacturers, which means they may not yet include the full size range. Expanding access and inclusivity is a priority for us, and we're actively working toward offering extended sizing across all styles. We appreciate your patience with our growing edges—and your support as we continue to do better, together.
We describe fit in plain, real-world terms: Is it oversized? Can it be worn braless? Does it hug or flow? We also show our clothing on different body types and share exact garment measurements whenever possible. We created a size chart to help guide you—but please know, you can always reach out if you have questions or need a second opinion. We’re happy to chat and want you to feel grounded, confident, and comfortable in whatever you choose.
Because this isn’t just about clothing—it’s about how it feels to be in your body. And we’re here to help you feel good in yours.
