Made with vintage Baoule textile from Cote d'Ivoire, West Africa. This is an ikat strip cloth, meaning the pattern is achieved by tie-dying the threads before weaving. It's then woven in small strips that are joined together to make a small sarong-like cloth that is just enough for one piece of clothing, this one. Imperfections, distressed patterns, small holes or stains are common features of this beautiful and storied fabric.
